During the 24-hour onslaught of rain, the River Torridge, in Devon, burst its banks causing the water level to surge to nearly 11 feet. Flooded fields left a herd cows wading through and navigating the waters across Beam Weir near Great Torrington.

    Fallen trees, damaged power cables and flood roads are causing chaos in Devon this morning, Wednesday, April 16. Multiple A-roads are closed and blocked as the Met Office weather warning for rain is in place for the region. The A386 in Bideford is blocked in both directions due to flooding and a stuck vehicle in the road between Bideford and the A388 at Landcross. The A3072 is also closed in both directions due to a fallen tree.

Lioncourt Homes maintains it needs to demolish the 'dwarf wall' to create an emergency access route, as stipulated in their planning permission.
