IntroductionFollowing the second world symposium on pulmonary hypertension (PH) held in Evian, France, in 1998, PH has been classified into five major clinical groups [1]. Although the architecture of this classification was kept over subsequent world symposia and publications of guidelines, it was also continuously adapted in order to reflect the growing knowledge on the underlying aetiologies and pathologies [2–5].
