WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump has promised to pardon many of his supporters convicted of crimes related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol if he’s elected in November. Further down the ballot in the 2024 elections, several convicted rioters and others who were involved in the lead-up to the Capitol attack are running for local and national office themselves. This fall will also see a candidate who was on the other side of the clash on Jan. 6, 2021.

Scooter’s Coffee is set to open a franchise in Savannah in May, making it the latest of several new businesses to open in the town recently. Local officials say they are excited to have new things happening in town. "Historically last 10 years, we haven't seen a lot of growth or development here in town," said Bruce Lundy, Savannah's city administrator. Missouri has seen an increase in business applications in the last several years, a trend Savannah is following.

With recreational marijuana sales underway in the state, the Missouri School Board Association provided districts, including the St. Joseph School District, policy recommendations and guidance. "It identifies federal and state law and how federal and state law stands on these issues, so it's good to have that reference,” said Shannon Nolte, the St. Joseph School District’s nonacademic services director.

The official start of spring is on Monday, and residents are encouraged to be prepared for severe weather as St. Joseph nears one year since the last tornado hit the area. On March 29, 2022, an EF1 tornado touched down in St. Joseph, completely ripping a roof off a home. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado traveled a third of a mile, reaching speeds up to 90 miles per hour.

Construction on Rosecrans Memorial Airport will begin about two and a half weeks later than the project's original start date. The airport will be getting a new runway, terminal and air traffic control tower in the next few years, with the new runway being operational this year. Originally, construction was supposed to begin March 20. Rosecrans Memorial Airport manager Julius Rice said the delay is to allow final details from grants to fall into place.
