DUBOIS CO., Ind. (WFIE) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is warning community members of a recent scam. Officials say scammers are posing as representatives from the sheriff’s office, claiming you have an outstanding warrant. The scammer then demands payment in bitcoin or threatens arrest. The sheriff’s office wants to remind you they will never ask for money over the phone, or ask for payment in cryptocurrency.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - The former Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent has been charged with numerous offenses related to sexually exploiting children. Officials say on August 14, a grand jury returned an indictment charging 52-year-old Matthew Constant with the following:Two counts of online enticement of a minorThree counts of receipt of child pornographyTwo counts of sexual exploitation of a minorTwo counts of transferring obscene material to a minor.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced an emergency closure on West Parrish Avenue (KY 81). According to a release, that closure will take place between Nassau Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue. Officials say the closure is expected to last around two to three days. The Regional Water Resource Agency says they will be conducting sewer repairs at the location until Thursday or Friday, depending on the weather.

POSEY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A Sebree, Kentucky man has been arrested on drug-related charges in Posey County. On Sunday, officials say they arrested 66-year-old Benjamin Ballard. According to an affidavit, Ballard was pulled over for multiple traffic violations including speeding. The Posey County Sheriff’s Office says Ballard and his passenger seemed nervous during the stop. When asked if they could search the vehicle, Ballard consented.
Hopkins Co. Sheriff’s Office investigating after 3-year-old found unresponsive in swimming pool

HOPKINS CO., KY. (WFIE) - A death investigation is underway in Hopkins County after officials say a three-year-old was found unresponsive in a swimming pool. According to a release, Hopkins County Dispatch received a complaint of a medical emergency Sunday afternoon in the 700 block of Rabbit Ridge Road in Nebo. Officers say a three-year-old was found unresponsive in a swimming pool, and people had started CPR. The child was taken to a hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
Former Owensboro firefighter charged in child porn case pleads guilty

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A former Owensboro firefighter charged in a child porn case admits to the crime. Court officials say Clifford Brandon plead guilty to 12 counts of possession of child porn. Brandon was initially charged with 18 counts. [OPD: Firefighter arrested on 18 counts of child pornography]Officials say as part of the plea he will be sentenced to 12 years in prison.
