The Savenac Nursery in Haugan has a tremendous history and welcomes visitors, but this year it’s closed. A state-of-the-art wastewater system is being installed which will interrupt the entire facility. It cancels the kid’s fishing derby and Passport in Time public events along with weddings and family gatherings. But what did make it by the skin of its teeth was the Superior Outdoor School for its 57th year.

US Military Veterans that were participating in the Wild Horse Rendezvous prepare American flags for the retirement ceremony held every year. Flags that were torn, tattered and faded were respectfully folded before ritual over a large campfire. Health fair held at St. Regis School

The area is in the center of Mineral County which is over 93% public land and is a mecca for outdoor recreation.

May 21—Every spring, both mountain and western bluebirds return to Western Montana, delighting residents and nature lovers alike. But where they spend their winters remains largely unknown. "I've had some of the ones I've banded show up in California, but there really isn't a strong tracking system for where our bluebirds overwinter," Jane Brockway shared during a recent talk at the Mineral County Library. "We're lucky to have both species here.
