U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canada are now on pause for 30 days following a call between the leader and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The tariffs, which were set to commence on Tuesday, could push the country into a recession, cause thousands of Canadians to lose their jobs, drive up inflation and seriously impact the country's economy. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trudeau detailed the concessions he made to Trump to delay a full-blown trade war.

In 2018, he signed up for self-exclusion through the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), ensuring he would not be allowed to enter any casino in the province. He tried once, but security stopped him and said he could be charged with trespassing if he came again.

Patrick Liang was in the middle of inking a snake and rose forearm tattoo on a client earlier this year when he got the news. During a break, he checked his phone and saw a text message sent to an all-staff group chat from one of his bosses. Ink & Water, the popular tattoo shop on Campbell Avenue in the city’s west end, would be closing immediately and artists had to clear out their things by the end of the next day. “It was a really confusing situation,” he said.
