Though the Doctor at first laments that there's "no-one to see" his and Belinda's sartorial efforts, a quick glimpse at his hand reminds him that, in 1952, it "might be wise" for them to keep a low profile.

Arriving on present-day Earth, at the hospital where Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) works, he sets about tracking down the nurse, narrowly missing her on multiple occasions. Following the trail to her home, the Doctor arrives just too late to save her from abduction by androids – giving chase in the TARDIS, he pursues the robots' ship to their home planet, but a fracture in time means that he actually arrives on Missbelindachandra One six months earlier than Belinda and her mechanical captors.

Belinda is kidnapped by a horde of rampaging robots and spirited away to their home planet, but the Doctor is eventually able to free her with the help of a band of rebels and the pair take refuge in the gloomy under-city. In hiding from the mechanical marauders, nurse Belinda laments that she is supposed to be starting a new shift at the hospital "on Monday" – a passing comment that sparks recognition for the Doctor...
