You can learn so much about almost every character just by looking at them. Not because you’re ‘judging a book by its cover’ or anything like that, but because the show actually uses their designs as a form of storytelling. It’s actually genius. Seriously, nobody does this better than our girl Maomao.

Episode 9 gave us some hero moments, some genuinely adorable romance scenes, and, oh boy, some rather tear-inducing flashbacks of Koichi’s troubled childhood, courtesy of his mom. And trust us, this wasn’t your typical ‘strict-but-loving anime parent’ situation. It was rather harsh to witness.
