    Ensuring reliable and uninterrupted access to energy resources, including electricity, oil, and gas, is critical for the energy security of any country. In Pakistan, this issue is complex and involves various factors. Pakistan’s vulnerability is evident from its dependence on imported petroleum products (80 per cent of local consumption), natural gas (30pc of local consumption), and LPG supplies (65pc of local consumption), even under constrained consumption levels.

    When preparing and planning for the 2050 net zero target, it’s important to remember that the Earth’s atmosphere knows no boundaries and that every nation is responsible for preserving the environment and atmosphere. This obligation falls particularly heavy on those countries that have contributed the most to pollution and continue to do so. The Earth’s atmosphere comprises 78 per cent nitrogen, 21pc oxygen, and only about 0.04pc Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

    Post 18th constitutional amendment, interpretational uncertainty especially relating to Section 172 made in April 2010, triggered the cancellation of the new exploration block award process, which was scheduled to take place on 30th June 2010. Unfortunately, the energy supply situation has gone from bad to worse as my timely sensitisation effort fell on deaf ears during the last 12 years.
