SMART Zambia National Coordinator Percy Chinyama has disclosed that Zambia is looking to emulate Ethiopia in implementing its national digital identification system. Speaking during the Africa Innovation Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Chinyama noted that Zambia is particularly interested in the Ethiopian model because it was developed using a home-built system. He also revealed that Smart Zambia has launched a programme aimed at solarising all local councils across the country.

NGOCC says while this act is testament to the prevailing high poverty levels in the country, leaders should not take advantage of the citizenry’s vulnerabilities and treat them in dehumanising ways.

THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has disclosed that its procurement committee on Friday cancelled the tender for the supply and delivery of Voter Registration Equipment and Software. In a public notice, Tuesday, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro indicated that the cancellation of the tender was due to significant changes in the bidding conditions and conditions of contract contained in the issued solicitation document.
