Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday filed an intervening application in the Supreme Court against the fresh summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him. The probe agency summoned him for questioning on September 23 in a money laundering case pertaining to land grabbing in the state. Hemant Soren had already skipped the ED's summons thrice before the fresh ones were issued.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday launched a major crackdown on sand mafia in Tamil Nadu, carrying out raids at over 40 locations across the state. The raids took place at sand mining sites, sales depots and the offices and residences of sand mining contractors at several locations, including Vellore, Chennai, Dindigul, Tiruchi, Karur and Pudukottai, among others.

The Enforcement Directorate has seized four kilograms of gold bullion and gold jewellery worth Rs 2.12 crore during a search operation conducted in the alleged Punjab tender scam. The search operations were conducted at the bank lockers in Punjab's Ludhiana. The total recovery in the case now amounts to over Rs 8.6 crore.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday registered a case against Amitabh Banerjee, the former chairman and managing director (CMD) of the Indian Rail Finance Corporation (IRFC), for alleged corruption and misappropriation of public money during his tenure. The IRFC is a public sector undertaking under the Railways that works on securing financial funding through capital markets and various borrowing mechanisms.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday filed a complaint against two of its officers for allegedly taking bribes in the Delhi excise policy case on behalf of accused businessman Amandeep Singh Dhall. Dhall was arrested by the probe agency in March this year. The Central Bureau of Investigation, on the request of the ED, filed an FIR against the two accused officers, Pawan Khatri, an Assistant Director, and Nitesh Kohar, an Upper Divisional Clerk.
