The newly appointed Social Health Authority (SHA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi is set to assume office today (Tuesday). Dr. Mwangangi was appointed to the position on April 11th following a competitive recruitment process which saw a total of 92 Applicants, out of which 12 Candidates were shortlisted and interviewed. She takes over from Elijah Wachira who was dismissed last year over professional conduct and performance.

This comes after CS Muturi Tuesday recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations at the Kilimani police station over last year’s abduction and release of his son.

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Nominee Lee Kinyanjui on Tuesday was put to task to explain allegations of dumping street children in a forest during his tenure as Nakuru Governor. Appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments Chaired by the Speaker Moses Wetangula, the former County boss denied the claims that the previous Nakuru County Government led by him rounded up street children/ street families and dumped them in Embobut Forest.
