The Kitui government is supporting the B2 Yatta Ranching Cooperative to return to profitability. Livestock executive Stephen Kimwele on Friday said a modern feedlot will be set up at the 23,109 acre ranch for fattening cattle, whose meat will be for export market. “If this feedlot is well managed, it will earn the rangers and cattle owners in Kitui more than Sh200 million,” he said. “Every three months between 300 and 400 heads of cattle will be slaughtered.

A lorry is loaded with sand at a river bed in Kitui County/MUSEMBI NZENGU. Kitui County government has asked residents to be patient as they address the issue of wanton and destructive sand harvesting. Kitui Environment, climate change and mineral resources executive John Mwendandu said the matter would soon be addressed as a law to that effect is now in place. “Yes. Police in Kitui South are searching for a 43-year-old man who allegedly hacked his father to death under unclear circumstances on Sunday afternoon. According to Pius Kilunda, the Chief of Kibwea Location, the suspect ambushed his father at their home and fatally slashed him on the neck with a razor-sharp panga at around 1 p.m. "It is not clear why Musyoka killed his father in cold blood, as they were the only two in the home when the vicious incident happened.
