Na Píobairí Uilleann presents Notes & Narratives – a series of monthly performance-based lectures on traditional music, song and dance by some of Ireland’s finest traditional artists. Notes & Narratives will take place at Na Píobairí Uilleann, 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1, starting at 8:30pm on Thursday 20th February 2025. Admission is €10 (unwaged / student / retired €5). This month's speaker will be uilleann piper and lecturer Mark Redmond. Mark will be presenting on Uilleann Piping in County Wexford. The presentation will look at the history of uilleann piping in County Wexford from the eighteenth century to recent times.

Come along to Cruit Éireann|Harp Ireland’s gathering of harp makers on Sunday 17th November 11am-4pm in the Vernon Studio, Royal Irish Academy of Music. Take the opportunity to meet some of our most renowned Irish harp makers, each of them living and making harps here in Ireland. You will have a chance to learn from expert master craftsmen about the traditions and techniques that go into building our national instrument.

Andy May: "Robert Reid: The Northumbrian Perspective"At our next performance and talk in the Notes & Narratives series, Andy May will discuss the work of pipemaker Robert Reid. Robert Reid (1784 – 1837) of North Shields was a celebrated pipemaker in both the Irish piping and Northumbrian piping worlds. Reid's work continues to influence and inspire the work of contemporary pipemakers in both traditions. Andy May is a full-time musician and pipemaker based in Newcastle.

The 2024 Masters of Tradition festival presented by West Cork Music will take place from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 August. Curated by fiddle player Martin Hayes, the events features five days of concerts as well as a number of talks and an exhibition of paintings by Tim Goulding. Opening on Wednesday 21st with a concert featuring Hayes with Brian Donnellan (concertina and bouzouki), the performance will also feature Mick McAuley on accordion and concertina and sean-nós dancer Suzanne Leahy.
