Amnesty International is calling for the immediate release of South Sudanese government critic Morris Mabior Awikjok Bak, who has been detained by the National Security Service (NSS) for over 400 days. South Sudan's Minister of Justice has ordered Bak's release and the dropping of all charges. Arrested in Kenya in February 2023 and forcibly returned to South Sudan, Bak has been held at the National Security Service headquarters in Juba.

The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, appealed Tuesday for information and evidence of atrocities in Sudan's western Darfur region, saying his ongoing investigation “seems to disclose an organized, systematic and a profound attack on human dignity." The French medical charity Doctors Without Borders, known by its acronym MSF, suspended its operations at Madani Teaching Hospital in the capital city of Al Jazirah state, Wad Madani, Sudan. The facility is the only functional hospital for hundreds of thousands of people in the town. Reasons for the suspension include growing insecurity, the denial of travel permits for new staff and medical supplies, and repeated security incidents like looting and harassment.
