Construction employers claim nearly £130m in CITB grants

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has released the year-end figures for its Grants Scheme, which provides support for construction employers and learners. During the 2024-25 financial year, CITB allocated nearly £130 million in grant support. Of this funding, £71.4 million was provided through various apprenticeship grants, supporting more than 30,000 learners and 10,000 employers, with the majority of these being small and micro construction firms.

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) has awarded £400,000 to help deliver an Energy Transition Skills Hub in Scotland. Two standout HS2 apprentices have received a four-year extension to their employment contracts with Balfour Beatty Vinci Systra (BBVS). Tyler Pearce-Scott and Charlotte Thomas, both from Ealing in London, successfully completed their two-year apprenticeships working on the Old Oak Common Station scheme. Thomas joined BBVS to study a Level 4 civil engineering apprenticeship and, since joining the company, she has played a supporting role in the design and construction of the 850m-long station box.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has quadrupled the number of learners supported through its Employer Networks initiative, according to its year-end figures. Employer Networks are funded by CITB and offer bespoke training and financial support for employers. They also give employers a direct channel to communicate their training needs and advise on how funding should be prioritised and allocated in their local area.
