Why is this research or review needed? An array of parental coping strategies is used in paediatric cancer, with mixed findings on their adaptability. Certain coping patterns may be a key indicator of parental resilience. What are the key findings? Five coping profiles were identified, with higher stress levels predicting the ‘Avoidant’ profile. This profile was also associated with more depressive and post-traumatic symptoms, worse illness adjustment and lower quality of life.
