Fifteen schools in India's tech hub of Bengaluru cancelled classes on Friday in response to emailed bomb threats, evacuating the premises as police and bomb detection squads launched search efforts. But the emails appeared to be a hoax, said B Dayananda, the top police officer in the city, also known as "India's Silicon Valley", since it is home to multinationals such as Amazon , Alphabet's Google and Infosys.

"Last year also, similar hoax emails were sent, and these (new mails) also appear to be a hoax," Dayananda, the police commissioner, told Reuters.

BENGALURU, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Indian shares closed lower on Monday, weighed by losses in auto stocks after a rally last week, along with selling in financial stocks. The NSE Nifty 50 index .NSEI and the S&P BSE Sensex .BSESN edged down 0.2% each at 19,694 and 65,655, respectively. The Nifty has gained over 3% and the Sensex is up nearly 3% so far this month, although analysts see some consolidation after the recent rally.

BENGALURU, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Indian shares were subdued on Monday, weighed by losses in banking and financial stocks as investors assessed the impact of the central bank's tighter rules for personal loans on lenders. The NSE Nifty 50 index .NSEI and the S&P BSE Sensex .BSESN were flat at 19,731 and 65,746, respectively, as of 10: 20 a.m IST. Banking .NSEBANK and financial .NIFTYFIN indexes were down 0.2%, each, while the private bank index .NIFPVTBNK fell 0.4%.

BANGALORE, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Indian shares are set to open on a slightly muted note on Monday, with a focus on the global interest rate outlook after a more than 3% rally so far this month. India's GIFT Nifty GIFc1 was down 0.1% at 19,794.50 as of 7:59 a.m. IST on Monday. The NSE Nifty 50 index .NSEI gained 1.58% last week, its best in two months, while the Sensex rose 1.37%.
