At the end of 2023, after 20 years in prison for the deaths of her children, the NSW Court of Appeal quashed the conviction against Kathleen Folbigg. Standing beside Ms Folbigg that day, was Anna-Maria Arabia, the head of the Australian Academy of Science. It has said that basic scientific principles weren't upheld from the time of her trial and was eventually brought in as a scientific advisor to the case.
