This spring a whistleblower brought a misconduct complaint to IOLERO, Sonoma County’s civilian law enforcement oversight agency. The Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Sheriffs’ Association refused to provide IOLERO with personnel materials required to fully investigate the allegations. IOLERO’s director has turned to the courts to enforce his power to investigate the Sheriff’s Office. Sonoma County voters overwhelmingly adopted Measure P in November 2020.
