The Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has detailed a series of commitments—or “milestones”—in a major speech today unveiling the government’s new “Plan for Change”. The speech, which has been heavily trailed in recent days, included pledges on the economy, policing, education, housing, energy and the NHS. Some of the goals set out by Mr Starmer featured in Labour’s manifesto ahead of July’s general election, while others appear to be new commitments.

A post shared over 100 times on Facebook claims a young boy was found wandering in Skegness, Lincolnshire and taken to a police station on 4 November 2024. However, Lincolnshire Police told us it has no report of this. We suspect this post is a hoax, as its wording is very similar to others we’ve seen and written about before. The post reads: “This little boy, approximately 3 years old, was found 1 hour ago here in #Skegness.

Posts on Facebook claim that the retail giant Amazon is selling Lenovo laptops for £3, and that the company is giving HP laptops, often to over 25s, “as a gift”.

We’ve seen a number of posts circulating on Facebook that make claims about the number of pensioners in the UK who are millionaires. One post claims the figure is a quarter, while others claim one in five pensioners are millionaires. The posts don’t provide a source for the claim, however we’ve previously seen similar versions of it based on data published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

A post shared more than 100 times on Facebook claims a three-year-old girl was found alone in a street in Poole, and taken to a police station. But Dorset Police has no record of this occurring, and the post is virtually identical to others we’ve seen shared in locations around the USA, and in Trinidad and Tobago. The Facebook post features an image of a young girl, seemingly asleep, with a dummy in her mouth and a scar-like mark on her face.
