Study areaThe intervention program was conducted during 2007–2016 in the municipality of Pampa del Indio (Chaco Province, Argentina, located on the interface between the dry and humid Chaco. This municipality (also referred to as the “district”), which was inhabited by roughly similar frequencies of Creole and indigenous (Qom) households and comprised 32 dispersed rural settlements with 1546 housing units at baseline, was divided into four areas (1–4) [41: see Fig. 1].
