    Despite a messy campaign trail, the narrative of this year’s election result couldn’t be clearer. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese led Labor to a landslide victory, which the ABC termed a “win for the ages”, while the Coalition and the Greens were punished for embracing the hard right and left, respectively, far too much.     Earlier this month, a British graphic artist called Rebecca Burke was arrested at the United States-Canada border after Canadian border officials told her she was travelling on the wrong type of visa. She was locked in an Immigration and Customs detention centre for 19 days, and her traumatic experience was covered extensively by The Guardian. Her advice for anyone thinking of visiting America is simply “don’t do it”.

The story focused on Cairns Sexual Health Service allegedly prescribing “unauthorised” puberty blockers to children as young as 12, without informing parents or undertaking the required multidisciplinary consultation.

    On 11 December 2020, 28-year-old DJ and union worker Bridget Flack was found dead in bushland near Kew. The discovery of her body came after a twelve-day coordinated search, led by the queer community and over a hundred local residents from the Fairfield area. Bridget had a history of poor mental health, like many trans women, and was attempting to organise support from a mental health facility at the time she disappeared. Evidence suggests she took her own life.
