PICACHO, Ariz. (BP) – On a Saturday in May, an abundance of bell peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, bread, eggs, sub sandwiches encased in plastic wrap and other grocery store cast-offs covered tables at First Baptist Church of Picacho. Another table held vanilla layer cakes and other desserts. A sign out front alerted the community to the abundance inside. Free food boxes. All are welcome. This takes place on the third Saturday of every month.

NASHVILLE (BP) – Although AM radio can be perceived as living in the shadow of other communication platforms, its value is being recognized with the bipartisan support and passage out of Senate committee of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. One out of three American radio listeners tune in to AM stations every month, said Nic Anderson, director of government affairs for Salem Media Group. “Even as technology changes, people are still listening to AM radio,” he said.

LOS ANGELES (BP) – Three Orthodox Jewish families and two Jewish schools are suing the California Department of Education for excluding private religious schools from government funding to teach children with disabilities. California allows nonreligious private schools to receive federal and state funding under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), but excludes private religious schools from the program, attorneys representing the group assert.
