POLZEATH on Cornwall’s North Coast might be a small village but it has a royally big reputation. Well-known for its beautiful sandy beach and choppy waters that are great for surfing, the area is so stunning it attracts a celeb crowd during the summer months . . . even members of the Royal Family. Prince William and Harry are among the big names who have visited, first as young teenagers and then again as adults.

IT feels like ‘everything causes cancer’ these days, and with one in two of us to get a diagnosis in a lifetime, it may feel like the odds are stacked against us. However, Dr Liz O’Riordan never dreamed she’d get the disease - not least because she was a breast cancer surgeon herself. The 50-year-old admits she didn’t even check herself for signs of cancer, such as for lumps, before getting the devastating news at the age of 40.

DRYING your clothes in the winter can feel like a lot of effort, but having the right drying rack will make the task a little easier. Some additional tips include; before placing your items on the rack, use the spin cycle on your washing machine which will remove as much moisture as possible from your clothes. When hanging them, don’t put the clothes too close together or on top of each other as they need air to circulate for them to dry.

PULLING up to the luxury lodge that would be home for the next four nights, my first word was “Wow!”. We had arrived at Gull Rocks Beach in Holywell, Cornwall, just as the sun was setting over the bay — and the sky was a beautiful mix of blue, purple and pink, with the Atlantic glistening beneath it. It couldn’t have been more picture-perfect. These tranquil lodges are part of Trevornick Holiday Park, which was recently named the AA’s Holiday Park of the Year for 2024/25.

“I’VE ordered champagne” were the first words Barbara Taylor Bradford said to me when I interviewed her in 2015. We met at The Dorchester, her home from home whenever she visited London, where she was holding court in a quiet corner of the swanky hotel. Dressed to the nines, with a perfectly made up face and coiffed hair that hinted at her twice-weekly visits to the stylist, she looked nothing like the 81 years old she was at the time.

I absolutely love Charlestown on Cornwall's South Coast and The Pier House is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I wrote about a recent trip for @familytraveller @StAustellBrew https://t.co/1qAs9Y2C8v
