The U.S.-China trade deal could unstick the effective trade embargo between the two nations, but a 30% tariff on goods from China, stacked on existing tariffs, will still mean higher prices on back-to-school and holiday purchases, the American Apparel & Footwear Association said. The group also cautioned that if freight rates spike because of tariff-induced shipping disruptions, prices could rise even further for American shoppers.
