It will start out as the perfect summer day, but will eventually turn into a sticky mess in the nation's capital. Environment Canada is predicting the humidity will climb over the weekend, resulting in extremely high temperatures on Sunday and into early next week. To kick off the weekend, the city is receiving a sunny, perfectly "normal" Friday with a high of 25 C. Wind blowing in from the northeast will cool things slightly to a low of 13 C before the humidity rolls in.

Two people are facing various charges in connection with adrug bust carried out by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). On June 19, officers from the street rime unit, canine unit and tactical and rescue unit executed a search warrant at a home on Hanesville Road in South Dundas Township, a small community south of Ottawa along The Seaway. Once inside the house, police found nearly 2.5 grams of suspected cocaine, more than nine grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and hundreds of tablets.

Last year was marked by Ottawa police with both the start of some successful programs and multiple tragedies. The force's annual report goes into detail about the year-over-year statistics of crimes as well as the way officers are aiming to disrupt bad actors in the nation's capital. Throughout the year, police were called thousands of times, for collisions, intimate partner violence issues and murders. Several of the incidents they responded to marked the year in unfortunate ways.

A digital app is making it easier for emergency responders to locate people who get lost. The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) has been using the 'what3words' app since 2020. It shows various three-metre blocks throughout the world, assigning a three-word combination to each location. It allows people to readily provide their exact location to police if they get desperately lost and are in need of aid from emergency services.

People needing an adaptive way to ride a bike can now do so in Waterloo Region as the municipality rolls out upright tricycles and handcycles as part of its e-bike program. The region is working with Neuron, which offers the orange scooters and e-bikes seen zipping around the region. The launch is adding adaptive vehicles to the city's fleet and is now available on Neuron's website.
