    Police officers are noticing an uptick in people who are driving vehicles without insurance. Data shared by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) notes that in the first four months of the year, officers have laid 157 charges. "If you can't afford to properly insure your vehicle, don't drive it," police said in a post. Officials said over the weekend an additional six drivers were charged. They face a minimum fine of $5,000 for operating a vehicle without insurance.

    After almost seven periods and six hours of hockey, Montreal Victoire forward Catherine Dubois doesn't even remember her winning goal. She took a pass from Kristin O'Neill at the left circle and fired a wrist shot past Ottawa goaltender Gwyneth Philips to give the Montreal Victoire a 3-2 win in Game 2 of their Professional Women's Hockey League semifinal on Sunday in front of 7,144 fans at Place Bell. The goal came at 15:33 of the fourth overtime period.

    It has been 16 years since the murder of Tanya Jean Brooks. The 36-year-old from Millbrook First Nation was found dead in the window well of St. Patrick's-Alexandra School in Downtown Halifax on May 11, 2009. Police said they believe Tanya knew her assailants and are asking people to come forward with information. The province's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program indicated that Tanya was known to frequent the Gottingen Street area.

    Crews responded to an early morning vehicle blazethat was starting to catch the nearby garage on fire. According to Halifax firefighters, they were called to Falcourt Run in Upper Tantallon at 2:06 a.m. on Monday. Station 65 was there within six minutes and found a fully engulfed car. Quickly they attacked the blaze with a hose and brought it under control. "Preventing what could have been a much more devastating loss," the firefighters' union said in a post.
