The big domino has finally fallen in Pittsburgh, Aaron Rodgers informing the Steelers on Thursday, according to multiple reports, that he plans to sign a contract with the club Friday. But make no bones about it, there’s a lot of work yet to be done in the Steel City if the home team wants to make serious inroads toward winning a record seventh Super Bowl rather than just maintaining its recent standing as a playoff-caliber team that strikes almost no fear into its postseason competition.

After what will be 86 days – though it felt much longer – Aaron Rodgers’ first experience as an NFL free agent will apparently end, black and gold smoke finally emanating from Pittsburgh as reports surfaced Thursday that he will sign with the Steelers Friday and become their quarterback of the (very immediate) future.

One of the most durable players in NFL history − though he was perhaps best known for an infamous blunder − has died. The Minnesota Vikings announced the passing of longtime defensive end Jim Marshall on Tuesday. A cause of death was not revealed, though the team said Marshall died "following a lengthy hospitalization." He was 87.
