A bad snap on a punt play early in the third quarter came back to bite David City Aquinas in a big way in Friday’s season opener at rival Columbus Scotus. Trailing 21-7, the Monarchs did little with the second half kickoff besides move backwards in the shadow of their own end zone. Forced to punt after a fourth three-and-out, the snap sailed backwards bouncing over the end line awarding the Shamrocks the two-point safety.

Stanton 45, David City 43David City had a 43-37 lead in the fourth quarter on Friday night over the Stanton Mustangs, but a late touchdown pass from Stanton gave the Mustangs a 45-43 victory. The Scouts' Justin White led the way on the ground piling up 126 yards on 14 carriers, including a 3-yard touchdown run. Will Danielson completed five of his 14 pass attempts for David City and threw for two touchdowns – a 30-yard pass to Clayton Denker and a 23-yard pass to Nick Ruth.
Powerful Sutton offense ends Monarch's season

Sutton scored on its first three possessions of the game and led by at least two scores the rest of the way in Class C-2 quarterfinal football action in David City. The Mustangs' powerful offense and slick running game was too much for Aquinas to handle in a 46-21 final. Sutton moves on to face Norfolk Catholic next week in the semifinals - 56-21 winners over St. Paul.
