Ben DuBois, Edward Little senior outfield: DuBois batted .341 with 15 hits, including two doubles and two triples, last season. He also had nine RBI, scored 12 runs and lead the team with nine stolen bases. Jacob Harmon, Monmouth Academy sophomore center field: Harmon batted .502 in his freshman campaign and drove in 16 runs while scoring a team-high 26 times and stealing seven bases. Trent Holst, Leavitt sophomore pitcher: Tossed a five-inning perfect game against Waterville.

Maddie Andrews, St. Dom’s sophomore pitcher/shortstop: Andrews hit .451 from the leadoff spot last season. She scored 22 times and had 14 stolen bases. In the circle, she went 4-4 with 42 strikeouts. Carmen Crockett, Buckfield senior pitcher: Buckfield thrived with Crockett in the circle last year. She went 15-2 with a 0.17 ERA and struck 180 batters in 72 2/3 innings. At the plate, she had a .596 batting average with 34 RBI and 28 hits.

The Dirigo softball team is back almost intact and ready to build off last season’s success. Last year, the Cougars reached the Class C South semifinals for the first time since doing so in back-to-back years in 2012-13 (state final in 2012 and regional final in 2013). Their 2024 playoff run was halted by a 9-0 loss in the semifinals to Hall-Dale, which went on to win its fourth consecutive state title.
