    NEW ORLEANS, La. (WLBT) - The New Orleans Pelicans continued to make moves in the NBA Draft, acquiring the 13th pick from the Atlanta Hawks to select Maryland center Derik Queen. The Pelicans came into the draft with the 7th overall pick, where they selected Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears, and the 23rd pick before trading that away, as well as a 2026 unprotected first-round pick.

    OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - Ole Miss golfer Michael La Sasso will represent Team USA at the 2025 Walker Cup at Pebble Beach in September. On June 20th, the USGA announced La Sasso along with Auburn’s Jackson Koivan and Virginia’s Ben James earned places as the top Americans in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. La Sasso is now the second Ole Miss Rebel to earn a Walker Cup spot for the United States, joining former Rebel star Braden Thornberry.

(WLBT) - On Monday, the College Baseball Foundation announced the induction of former Jackson State baseball star Earl Sanders, along with 20 others, in the 2025 class of the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Sanders played three years at Jackson State before he was drafted in the first round of the 1986 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. At Jackson State, Sanders was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hitter of the Year and the Pitcher of the Year.
