1My father is an enigma. Growing up, the little I learned about him I gleaned from listening to snippets of conversations between my siblings. Even now, after all these years, he is still a bit of a mystery. Hence, in writing about his childhood, I take on the role of an unreliable narrator. My father was born sometime in the early 1950s in Alor Agu, a village in Southeastern Nigeria, a few kilometres from Nsukka.
