Up until, say, six months ago, I was very jittery whenever people targeted me for building “GPT wrappers.”“Anyone can do that,” they said. Times have changed. I am now convinced in my belief that the real products would be built at a segmented application layer. After over 2 years of paying $20 for a ChatGPT Plus subscription, I just canceled it this month. And I didn’t do this because it’s any less useful — but because “ChatGPT wrappers” fulfill my needs better.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has outlined some potentially stormy weather for the tech giant following the Trump administration’s new tariff policies. These tariffs impose a burdensome 54%, 26%, and 46% on Apple’s hardware assembly in China, India, and Vietnam, respectively. With 85-90% of Apple’s production happening in China, this could eat into Apple’s future profitability. Kuo notes a significant drop of 8.5-9% in Apple’s overall gross margin if prices remain stable.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the well-regarded Apple analyst, is not buying into the recent buzz about the iPhone maker entering into a $1 billion deal with Nvidia. The rumored purchase involves Apple’s acquisition of Nvidia’s GB300 NVL72, amounting to around 250 racks or 18,000 GPUs. In Kuo’s view, this order size barely registers on the scale needed to make a dent in Apple’s AI strategy. Such a purchase pales compared to other tech giants’ AI ambitions, the analyst noted.
