Culture is a constant, generally, but migration opens an opportunity to change. A fascinating example is Hinduism in Indonesia that south Indian traders brought to the archipelago around the first century CE. It is delightfully different from the one we practise in India, as I found in a recent visit to Indonesia. Indonesians have a caste system that is highly egalitarian.
