The world reeling is from US President Donald Trump's tariff blitz. He has vowed payback for years of what he called "unfair trade practices". A baseline levy of 10% on all imports has been announced, while higher reciprocal rates will apply to countries that have a significant trade deficit with the US. China now faces a reciprocal rate of 34%, on top of an existing 20% tariff. Allies such as the European Union, Japan and India have also faced a rude awakening.

India has said it is prepared to take back its citizens residing illegally in the United States, after a meeting in Washington between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Just days into his second term, US President Donald Trump has made immigration a top issue for his administration. Mr Jaishankar said New Delhi is in the process of verifying its nationals in America who could be deported. Neha Poonia reports from New Delhi.

US President Donald Trump has voiced fresh concerns about China that threaten to spark a global trade war. He has suggested a blanket duty on imports of Chinese goods because of that country's failure to crackdown on the supply of key ingredients that go into the synthetic opioid, fentanyl. A court in India's Kolkata has sentenced the man convicted of raping and murdering a junior doctor to life imprisonment. The Indian court's judgement came as a disappointment to the victim's parents. One of the world's largest motor shows has kicked off in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying India's automotive industry is "future ready". 800 exhibitors are expected with 100 new product launches across the next five days. And it looks like electric vehicles might be driving that future, going by the big reveals from automakers so far.
