    TOYOTA Motor Company chairman Akio Toyoda has proposed a $A65.6 billion buyout of one of the company’s biggest shareholders, Toyota Industries, that will bring one of its key shareholders under the wing of the automotive business.     THE Victorian state government has cemented protection for roadside workers and emergency services with changes to the road rules regarding motorists passing stationary emergency services vehicles. From July 1, 2025, Road Rule 79A (RR79A) will be extended to include accident towing, breakdown towing, roadside assistance, and all incident response service vehicles. This brings it into alignment with other Australian states.

    SUZUKI in the UK has introduced a 10-year warranty program for loyal customers who use its franchised dealer network for servicing. Under the innovative program, Suzuki owners will have their warranty extended each time their car is serviced by a Suzuki dealer. The warranty extension is renewed after each subsequent service but expires after 10 years. The new warranty supersedes the seven-year cover that has been in place in the UK since 2023.

    GLOBAL competition and a drop in sales has chipped the financial outlook of Nissan as it announces expectations of a net loss in the 2024 financial year of up to Y750 billion, equivalent to $A8.2 billion. Nissan Motor Company said it has “significantly revised” its financial estimates for the full fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025 (FY2024). It also announced global sales of 3.3 million vehicles for the year, a 4.3 per cent decline compared with the previous year.
