The new charges apply to imports from various nations. According to the White House, the move is a response to Jamaica’s existing 10 per cent tariff on American goods entering the island. Several other Caribbean countries, including Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and St Kitts-Nevis, have also been affected by the new policy.

WEST INDIES have lost their five-day leader. Kraigg Brathwaite, an opening batsman, has resigned as Test captain of the West Indies with his successor to be named within the month. The 32-year-old had indicated in January, ahead of the Windies tour to Pakistan, that he could step down to concentrate on his batting. The tourists drew the two-Test series 1-1 with a 120-run 2nd Test victory handing Braithwaite only his tenth success in 39 matches.
