    The Winchester Board of Health has temporarily closed down Gloria’s Pizzeria following a re-inspection for previous and continuing code violations. Gloria’s owner Steven Beck attended a hearing May 30 with Health Department staff and Brian Winner, the town’s counsel, to discuss the ongoing issues facing the 920 Main St. business. An email request from Winchester News to Beck requesting comment from the owner or a legal representative has gone unanswered.

    It’s been six months since a car crashed through the wall of Mamadou’s Artisan Bakery, knocking out power to the Swanton Street business and causing its closure just four days before the Christmas holidays.     Winchester is taking another step in meeting the goals set forth in its Climate Action Plan. The town recently received a $15,000 Municipal Energy Technical Assistance grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources for an American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Level 2 audit of the West Side Fire Station at 45 Lockland Road.

    If you’re downtown and your electric vehicle (EV) needs a charge, you can now pop into the Town Hall/Jenks Center parking lot, where two new DC fast chargers are located. That’s right. Instead of waiting a few hours, your EV can now get a full charge in about 30 minutes. Sustainability Director Ken Pruitt said the town applied for a grant from both the Mass. Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and Eversource about three years ago and recently received $180,000 to install the new units.
