(Bloomberg) -- Vietnam’s monetary policy stance remains appropriate, central bank Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu said days after the local currency fell to a record low. The State Bank of Vietnam will keep inflation and the local currency stable this year, Dao told a press briefing in Hanoi on Tuesday. He also said the SBV is working on a restructuring plan for Saigon Commercial Bank.

HANOI (Bloomberg): Vietnam’s Politburo has issued a disciplinary "warning” to former parliament chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for violating anti-corruption regulations, underscoring the ruling Communist Party’s determination to continue its crack down on graft. Hue violated regulations related to anti-corruption work and rules governing the behavior of party members, causing "serious” consequences and damaging the party and the state’s reputation, according to a posting on the party’s news website.

(Bloomberg) -- Vietnam’s software and telecommunications champion FPT Corp. plans to open an AI data center in Japan next year, capitalizing on rising artificial intelligence demand to accelerate its expansion abroad. The plant is scheduled to start operating as early as January 2025, with a first-phase investment of $200 million with partners, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said in an interview, without identifying them.

HANOI (Bloomberg): Vietnam asked China to "immediately” release vessels and fishermen detained in the South China Sea, according to the Southeast Asian country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "Vietnam demands China to compensate properly for losses and stop the recurrence of acts of harassment and illegal detention of Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen in Vietnam’s Paracel archipelago,” Doan Khac Viet, deputy spokesman for Vietnam’s foreign ministry, said at a briefing in Hanoi Thursday.
