Malawian international footballer Gabadinho Mhango and his club, Marumo Gallants, are embroiled in a bitter legal battle over his image rights, with the club issuing what is believed to be threats to expel him from the team over the matter. Mhango is demanding more than R800 000 plus interest from the club for exploiting his image rights to promote, market and advertise the fixtures of the team on social media platforms ahead of its matches.

The Polokwane High Court has dismissed an urgent application by former co-host of Thobela FM’s Ditlalemeso morning drive show, Taemane “Lenny T” Phahlane (Legodi), to bar the SABC from employing his replacement in the prime time slot and reinstate him instead. In the hearing, which was heard on Wednesday, the court found that Phahlane’s application was not urgent and dismissed it with costs.

Ngwato and Tau, a businessman who also works as a football analyst for SuperSport, got hitched at Muldersdrift, in Gauteng, a fortnight ago.

The family of a man fatally shot by Trompies member and EFF member of parliament Eugene Mthethwa is demanding the case be reopened. Mthethwa shot dead Thulani Stanley Kweyama outside Club 707 in Soweto in 1997. Kweyama’s family wrote to the Orlando West police station commander on Friday to complain that the police had not kept them posted about developments in the case. As a result, 28 years later, they were still unable to find closure.
