The Western Bulldogs loom as one of the more fascinating clubs in the upcoming trade period. They have been linked to a number of stars, including Zak Butters and Matt Rowell, while Jamarra Ugle-Hagan might be heading the other way. But what is certain is that they have an abundance of salary cap space - and they are keen to use it.

Carlton and Essendon will meet in a huge King's Birthday Eve clash at the MCG on Sunday night in a game that will feature two sides hoping to remain within reach of the top eight. Both teams are desperate for a win. The Blues need to gather some momentum after a disappointing first half of the season, while the Bombers are playing well despite injury issues, and are keeping pace with the finalists. Nine expert tipster Tony Jones, however, is not expecting either team to win. He is tipping a draw.

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has labelled the situation unfolding in Tasmania a "debacle" as the future of the Devils becomes more uncertain. Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has scoffed at those suggesting Laura Kane has been demoted, as part of the AFL's decision to bring in a new head of footy. Brisbane chief Greg Swann will now helm the key role, looking after MRO, umpiring, game development, draft and trade period and more. Kane, who previously looked after those areas, will remain in charge of AFLW, VFL and VFLW, as well as maintaining her spot on the AFL executive team.

I don’t think hawthorn fans should think about this result for more than 12 seconds if it keeps going like this. 5 day break. Crap conditions. Perfectly fixtured to get the Suns a win against a good team. Just pray for no injuries. #AFLSunsHawks

Touk Miller’s goal song is John Cena’s theme lmao. Banger. #AFLSunsHawks
