Sorting through all of those accolades and re-drafting the top 10 has proven a difficult task. Only three players remain active on lists from 2007 in Taylor Walker at Adelaide, Callan Ward at GWS and Patrick Dangerfield at Geelong, who will play his 350th game on Friday night.

Debate has long surrounded Cricket Australia's level of involvement with the new $1b Macquarie Point stadium in Hobart, which will house an expansion AFL side in the next decade. Complaints surfaced earlier in the year that the proposed design for the stadium's roof would cast awkward shadows on the pitch and make it extremely difficult to play cricket there.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has responded to images of umpire headshots in the changerooms last week, admitting he was baffled by the public reaction. The Dockers had photos of all four field umpires visible to broadcast cameras in their rooms during their win over North Melbourne, something that was picked up by both broadcasters and wider national media.
