After watching Ben Johnson coach in last Wednesday's OTA practice inside the Walter Payton Center at Halas Hall, it’s clear the Chicago Bears head coach is fixated on details. He raised his voice, blew his whistle, and grimaced when players' alignments were off, the timing in the huddle was delayed, and after players ran the wrong route. If something was off, Johnson wanted to make those issues known and address them. "It's the way we're coaching every position right now,” Johnson said.

Grady Jarrett spent his first decade in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, his hometown team. After Atlanta cut the veteran defensive lineman, the Chicago Bears were quick to sign him to a three-year, $42.75 million deal. Just ten days after joining his new team, Jarrett linked up with Montez Sweat, Gervon Dexter Sr., and Austin Booker in Miami to start building chemistry with each other.

So, Poles listened to the team’s big board and waited until the seventh round to select Rutgers’ Kyle Monangai.

With the NFL draft over, it’s time to look forward to the next event on the football calendar. For the Chicago Bears, that would be May 9-11 for rookie minicamp at Halas Hall. It won’t have the same excitement since first-round draft pick Colston Loveland is still recovering from shoulder surgery to repair an AC joint in January, so it’s unlikely he will participate on the field.
