Sheyla Baez Ramirez was suspended as garrison commander of Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, on April 18, according to a statement from the U.S. Army Reserve. “This suspension is not related to any misconduct,” Monday’s statement reads. “The Army Reserve has no further details to provide.”Fort McCoy has an identical statement posted on its website.

They stood atop a bunker adorned with Nazi symbols, now in the hands of Allied forces after five days of fierce urban combat. By April 1945, the invasion of Germany was well underway. After crossing the Rhine River, American soldiers were pushing forward. Soviet troops were already well into Germany, and both forces were moving towards Berlin.

The United States will cut its presence in Syria by half in the coming months, the Department of Defense announced on Friday. The U.S. military will bring the number of troops inside Syria to under 1,000 in the coming months in a “consolidation” effort, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement on April 18. The move comes after “significant steps” made in the fight against ISIS. For several months the Pentagon had said that there were only approximately 900 U.S. troops inside Syria.

The Army announced the latest rotation of units in Europe and the Middle East, including the return of a combat team that lost three of its soldiers in a Lithuanian training accident last month. The 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division from Fort Cavazos, Texas will replace the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Elliott Miller couldn’t remember the events of Nov. 19, 2006, no matter how many times the other Navy SEALs he was with repeated all the details to him. Miller was one of a team of SEALs, which also included his friend Ray Mendoza, who were carrying out overwatch in a two-story house in Ramadi, Iraq, when their position was attacked. After the initial attack, the team’s attempt at casualty evacuation went horribly wrong when an improvised explosive device detonated.
