The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published its much-anticipated consultation paper CP23/31 in late December 2023 setting out detailed proposed measures aimed at making the UK's Listing Rules more accessible, effective and competitive through a simplified and disclosure-based listing regime. The FCA's key measures reflect most of the proposals set out in previous consultation paper CP23/10 in May 2023, alongside a number of additional changes.

On December 9, 2023, the European Commission (Commission) announced that a political agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the Council on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act (AI Act), as proposed by the Commission in April 2021. It is considered the first text of its kind in the world.
