Accordingly, DU has continually tried to enhance this experience. In the last few years, they introduced the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus (KMC), which, despite its huge advertising push, especially through admissions, most students rarely visit except during First Ascent.

    At 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, over 2,000 runners gathered at the starting line of the Denver/Colfax Marathon in City Park. The race would commence 26.2 miles through City Park, downtown, Mile High Stadium, Sloans Lake, down Colfax Avenue and back. The race leaders set a hot pace from the start, with the lead group coming through the first ten miles running at a 5:20 per mile pace.

    Denver women’s lacrosse won its fifth consecutive Big East tournament title last weekend in Philadelphia, Penn. with a 20-9 win against Georgetown in the semifinal on May 1 and a 14-9 win against Villanova in the final on May 3. The game against Georgetown was a dominant performance from Denver from the start. They went up 7-2 by the end of the first frame and carried this lead for the rest of the game.

    It was a big week for both Denver men’s and women’s lacrosse. The women’s team clinched the Big East regular season title with a 17-7 win at home against Villanova, while the men’s team was eliminated from the Big East tournament with an 18-11 loss against Marquette. The women’s team went into their game against Villanova with a three-game win streak and a 4-1 record in the Big East.

    On April 14, Denver men’s basketball announced the hiring of their next head coach, Tim Bergstraser. This announcement came after the conclusion of Denver’s basketball season on March 6, where they lost to St. Thomas in the Summit League quarterfinal after finishing the regular season with an 11-20 record. Bergstraser will replace Jeff Wulbrun, who mutually agreed to part ways with Denver basketball after he was placed on leave with two games left in the season.
