FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. AND WHAT WE CAN WEAR. HERE’S OUR FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT GETTING REALLY WARM TOMORROW. HOT IN KC AND THEN A CHANCE OF RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND. BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT’S WHERE WE WILL START BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO SEE IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A COMPLETE WEEKEND WASHOUT. I THINK SATURDAY IS FINE, BUT SUNDAY WE MAY HAVE SOME POCKETS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. IT LOOKS RIGHT NOW MOSTLY ON THE KANSAS SIDE, BUT IT’S STILL A LONG WAY OFF, SO THAT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

YEAH, LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS WEEKEND. THE RAIN IS MOVING OUT AND WE STILL HAVE SOME DOWNPOURS LEFT HERE IN SEDALIA AND CLINTON. THIS IS ALL PINWHEELING AROUND AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE, WHICH IS WHY IT’S BEING THROWN FROM THE EAST TO THE WEST. THE COUNTERCLOCKWISE FLOW AROUND THAT LOW IS THROWING THOSE RAIN SHOWERS BACK TO THE WEST. JUST A FEW LITTLE SHOWERS MAKING IT BACK HERE INTO ADRIAN, LA CYGNE PLEASANTON RAYMORE.

Patchy fog and showers will linger in only a few spots this morning; otherwise, expect more rays of sunshine breaking through the clouds this afternoon. The weather this weekend will be fantastic for outdoor activities: sunny, warm, and light winds. Plan for high temperatures in the upper 70s on Saturday and near 80 degrees on Sunday. The warming trend will continue into next week with a mostly sunny sky from Monday through Wednesday, and high temperatures in the lower to upper 80s.

A unique weather pattern will unfold miles above our heads this week, resulting in several gray days with chances of showers and thunderstorms. The mid-level winds, which typically flow more or less in a progressive west-to-east fashion, will become blocked. An Omega Block is characterized by a sprawling high-pressure system sandwiched between two low-pressure systems. The path the mid-level jet stream is forced to take around these pressure systems resembles the Greek letter omega (Ω).

Intermittent showers and thunderstorms will dot the landscape today and tomorrow.Neither day is expected to be a complete washout, but there are no guaranteed dry periods. It's best to keep a compact umbrella handy in case you get caught in a brief downpour. For those with soccer or baseball practices, be mindful of lightning as it poses a serious threat. If you can count 30 seconds or less between a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder, it’s not safe to be outdoors.
