The National Weather Service's damage survey team confirmed two tornadoes on June 3, 2025. The first tornado, assigned an unknown rating as the only damage observed was several tree branches and twigs scattered across a wide-open parking lot, briefly swept by the Truman Sports Complex. A tornado debris signature for one radar scan, along with video footage near the Interstate 435/Interstate 70 interchange, helped confirm this tornado.

LOT OF THOSE LATELY. IT SEEMS LIKE HOPEFULLY YOU DON’T GET A LOT OF ALERTS FROM THE KMBC APP TODAY, WHICH WOULD BE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. HAVE THE APP JUST IN CASE BECAUSE YEAH, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON. YOU WANT THE APP AND YOU WANT YOUR RAIN GEAR. IF YOU HAVEN’T HAD OUTSIDE YET AND YOU DON’T KNOW BY NOW BECAUSE IT’S PROBABLY POURING DOWN IN YOUR HOUSE RIGHT NOW, YOU’RE GOING TO NEED YOUR RAIN GEAR NOT ONLY THIS MORNING, BUT FOR THIS AFTERNOON.

YOU GOT A KICK OFF. SPLASH OFF, AND IT’S GOING TO BE A GREAT WEEKEND FOR THE POOL. REALLY GREAT WEATHER FOR FOR ALL OF OUR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. I MEAN, THERE ARE SO MANY OF THEM TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK. BIG SLICK. THAT’S PROBABLY THE BIG ONE. AND IT’S GOING TO BE HOT OUT THERE. A LOT OF SUNSHINE TOO. TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO APPROACH 90 DEGREES ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE ONLY FLY IN THE OINTMENT A SLIM CHANCE OF A POP-UP SHOWER, PERHAPS A SMALL THUNDERSTORM LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

Today marks the start of a warm and humid stretch of summer-like weather. This afternoon, temperatures will climb to near 80 degrees under a mostly sunny sky. On Saturday, high temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-to-upper 80s. There is a slight chance of a few pop-up showers or a thunderstorm late in the afternoon or early evening, though any downpours will be brief. On Sunday, high temperatures will again reach the mid-to-upper 80s under a mostly sunny sky.

⚡️ Severe thunderstorms have begun to develop ahead of a cold front as of 2:10 PM. I drew a blue line denoting the cold front, which is moving southeast away from Kansas City. Storms that form along and south of the cold front over the next couple of hours may produce very large https://t.co/qCo8nN1bHO

❗️A few severe thunderstorms this afternoon could produce hail up to size of tennis balls (2.5”) and 70 mph wind gusts. A brief tornado can’t entirely be ruled out. I talk about the most likely areas and times for severe weather today in this video. Check it out! Video posted https://t.co/1qEMnDjM7X

🔊 A-10 Thunderbolt flyover! Sound up! We saw a pair of “Warthogs” fly over us while fishing. The A-10 is one of my favorite aircrafts second only to the F-14 Tomcat. @kmbc https://t.co/axLZUnoPEH
