By Nick ChildsStaffThe Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority has experienced more delays on the decades-long plans to install a wastewater treatment plant across from the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society along the Horsepasture River. The TWSA board held a regular meeting on Feb. 20 where Daniel Manring, executive director, gave an update on the plan. The board gathered earlier to hear and accept bids on the Horsepasture Project, but there were no bids.

By Nick ChildsCashiers ChronicleThe N.C. Department of Transportation and a wide array of big machines belching diesel fumes have worked on widening N.C. 107 near Tuckasegee since 2017. The project was initially projected to be completed in 2020, but amid the COVID-19 pandemic and with weather issues, the timeline was shifted. The NCDOT expects to finish up construction around March, with vegetation finishing up around June. “There is a minimal amount of work left to complete on the project.

By Nick ChildsCrossroads ChronicleCashiers-Glenville Fire Department’s newest fire substation, located near Wade Hampton on Hwy. 107 South, is nearing completion. The fire department is ready to move in, but there are just a few nails to hammer down. “We were supposed to be finished in August,” said Randy Dillard, chief of the Cashiers-Glenville Fire Department. Dillard said the contractor is finishing putting in doors.
