    (WJHL) – Tuesday night was stacked with region tournament action all across Southwest Virginia – on the diamond and the pitch. In Bristol, Lebanon trailed Union late in a Region 2D semifinal. However, they dug out of the hole just in time to punch a ticket to the championship, 4-3. The Pioneers will meet John Battle, after the Trojans dominated Gate City in the second semifinal of the evening, 12-1. John Battle and Lebanon will play for a Region 2D baseball championship in Bristol on Thursday.

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Summer is almost here in Northeast Tennessee – kids are out of school, the pools are open and the Appalachian League Opening Day is right around the corner. The Johnson City Doughboys will begin their 2025 season at home on Thursday night. On Monday, the short preseason practice window opened at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. Most clubs have just three days for their “spring training”, which provides a unique set of challenges.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Bucs found their backs against the wall in the Nashville Regional on Saturday afternoon – but ETSU had been embracing pressure all month long. The Blue and Gold overcame a pair of losses to The Citadel to close out the SoCon regular season championship with a win in the series finale. The Johnson City squad also trailed in each of its three games at the Southern Conference Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina.
