    Wolverhampton’s Aaron Rai saw his name briefly top the leaderboard on day one of The Masters. The 30-year-old showed no signs of nerves on his Augusta debut as a superb start saw him roll in birdies at the second, third, seventh and eighth holes to move to four under and into the outright lead. But after a par at the ninth, Rai suffered a difficult start to the back nine as three straight bogeys around Amen Corner threatened to ruin his opening round.

Hall struck three minutes into stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory for the visitors at Keys Park. Kobe Hall had got the Pics off to a flying start when he headed home after 11 minutes.

    Next season will be the first time in the tournament’s history that all women’s and men’s county teams will play side by side. The new Bears Women side will compete as one of eight Tier 1 teams in a new-look structure. And every one of their seven home games will be played at Edgbaston. Bears men and women start their group campaigns at Trent Bridge on May 30, against Notts Outlaws and The Blaze respectively, before both entertain Durham on May 31.

    Stretton put struggling Wem Town to the sword to run out emphatic 11-0 winners. James Hill took the individual plaudits with a four-goals salvo, while Matthew Cole netted twice. Jordan Wells, Nathan Thomas, Alex Ryder, Sam Jones and Tom Everall added the other goals. Stretton are now unbeaten in 10 league outings, with their only defeat coming on the opening day of the season, and up to fifth in the table.
