Attempting the Indy-Charlotte Double is no easy task. Only one driver — Tony Stewart in 2001 — has run the full 1,100 miles on the Sunday before Memorial Day and Kyle Larson has failed to pull it off two years in a row. First, there’s finishing the Indianapolis 500 and getting to Charlotte Motor Speedway in time for the Coca-Cola 600. Of course, then, it’s four plus hours strapped inside a race car, hoping to complete 600 miles.

“PS: It was nice to get in one more successful drive in front of a bunch of Colts fans,” Brady wrote. Brady had many successful drives against the Colts throughout his NFL career. Colts fans would love to forget, but the seven-time Super Bowl champion is here to remind them. Brady finished his career with a 16-4 record in regular season and playoff games against Indianapolis. The Colts and New England Patriots met five times in the postseason, Brady and the Patriots going 4-1.

Skip to main contentFOX Sports rolled out the red carpet for its inaugural broadcast of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Among its employees who showed out for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” were Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Michael Strahan and Tom Brady. Brady wasn’t exactly well-received by the fans in attendance during pre-race introductions. Brady, who rode along with Jimmie Johnson in the “Fastest Seat in Sports” ahead of the race, was showered with boos.

Shane van Gisbergen took yet another step forward in his NASCAR career on Sunday. The Cup Series rookie finished 14th in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his second-best finish on an oval. Van Gisbergen managed to secure a top-15 despite damaging his car in the Lap 245 caution. Perhaps this could have been even better for the New Zealand native. Still, it’s progress. Trackhouse Racing has to be elated about that.

William Byron and Denny Hamlin had the fastest cars for a majority of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. But whereas Byron went onto compete for the win before ultimately coming up short to Ross Chastain, Hamlin finished a disappointing 16th. The turning point of Hamlin’s race came on the Lap 348 pit stop. Hamlin’s team failed to get enough fuel into his No. 11 Toyota, meaning Hamlin had to come back down pit road on Lap 389, forfeiting his P3 position. That was it for Hamlin.

Nicklas Lidstrom did not win seven Norris trophies in the 21st century — all past the age of 30 — to have 24% not vote for him as one of the top-25 players of the last quarter century.
